These are counts of what has been recorded, not a ranking of danger. A country with dense monitoring and an active free press will record more incidents than one of the same size where reporting is thin — that is a fact about coverage, not about safety. Population is not held constant either. Use the numbers to see what kinds of hazard dominate somewhere, and be careful about turning them into "country X is more dangerous".
